This groundbreaking book is based on the findings of the first major study on spiritual reminiscence work with people with dementia. Carried out over a decade, the study confirmed spiritual reminiscence to be an effective means of helping people with dementia to find meaning in their own experience, and interact in meaningful ways with s: 1. Eligible to attend: People working in a caring profession (mainly, but not restricted to, Care of the Older Person & Palliative Care) –Nurses, Activity Co-Ordinators, Carers,Facilitators Time: am – pm Aim: The aim of this 1/2 day workshop is to encourage and enable people working in caring professions to engage in reminiscence with.

  Reminiscence does not have to be done as a specific activity, it does not have to take up much time and can be incorporated into simple, activities of daily life. Shared activities such as baking, polishing, gardening or folding ironing can all be enjoyable ways of connecting and these activities can be used to prompt reminiscence.   Reminiscence therapy for dementia and Alzheimer’s patients is designed to improve the patient’s quality of life while helping them recall parts of their past they may have forgotten. This therapy can be in a one-on-one or group setting. It relies mostly on the use of objects, images, sounds, and videos to trigger old memories.
